What Paint Correction Is

It's machine polishing that cuts out swirls and light scratches so the paint looks smooth and glossy again. Washing doesn't touch these marks, because they're in the surface of the clear coat, not on top of it. Polishing levels that surface back out, and it's slow, careful work.

• Swirl marks from automatic car washes and dry towels
• Light scratches you can see in the sun but barely feel
• Dull, hazy paint on a vehicle that has seen some years
• Polishing before a ceramic coating, which locks in whatever is underneath it

What It Costs

Paint correction and a ceramic coating together start at $400, and where it goes from there depends on the paint. A garage-kept car needs a lot less than a work truck that has been through a few Missouri winters, so it's quoted per vehicle after I look at it, with no charge for the look.
